- The 3rd Annual Dunn Brothers Coffeehouse artEMBRACE Student Art Show is on! It is showing at the downtown Nashville Dunn Brothers location, on the corner of 4th Avenue and Church Street. The show, which runs the entire month of May, showcases the artwork of Fun
Company students from the following Rutherford County Fun Company sites:
Wilson
Walter Hill
Rockvale
McFadden
Brown's Chapel
Eagleville - For the month of July, The Tennessee Art League Gallery will present the 3rd Annual Tennessee Art League -- YMCA artEMBRACE Student Art Show! The TAL Gallery is located at 808 Broadway in downtown Nashville, the Frist Center (opposite side of the street). Fun Company student artwork will be showcased on the third floor.
- artEMBRACE and Williamson County Y-CAP are now partners! Y-CAP has just received a terrific 2010 grant which will launch the first-ever artEMBRACE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS for our youngsters! Also included in the grant will be classes in Dance, Painting, and West African Drumming.
- artEMBRACE just received a new grant from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission! This grant will fund our newest endeavor -- the “artMOBILE” –-- which will take artEMBRACE directly into local Middle Tennessee homeless shelters to teach children and families workshops in Dance, Art, Music and Theater. Our partnering neighborhood shelters include Safe Haven, Nashville Rescue Mission and the Oasis Center.
- The Donelson-Hermitage Family YMCA has just launched their own permanent artEMBRACE Student Art Show which prominently features the fabulous artwork of Fun Company youth! Each artist is under the age of 12 years old! This rotating show contains the works of students of artEMBRACE Teaching Artist Richard Heinsohn (www.richardheinsohn.com). All student artwork is on sale for a donation of $50 to YMCA We Build People.
- The Sumner County Family YMCA now has an Art Corridor featuring the artwork of nearly fifty Sumner County Fun Company artEMBRACE students! Be sure to get over there and see it!
- artEMBRACE has been recognized by the YMCA of the USA and the Gibson Foundation as one of the leading arts-friendly Y programs in the United States. As a result, we have received a gift of 10 free brand new Gibson guitars as well as a $4,000 monetary grant from the Gibson Foundation.
